The Political Economy Research Team conducts in-depth research on the political and economic structures of contemporary Korean society and their transformations from historical and comparative perspectives. Our team analyzes the institutional transitions, the restructuring of industrial and financial systems, and Korea’s responses and adaptations within the global economic order. On this basis, the research examines the pathways toward sustainable development and democratic governance in Korean society.
Our team’s primary research focuses on government policies, industrial and financial systems, and international economic relations. It also examines the political, institutional, and socioeconomic changes that emerge in the process of economic development. Particular attention is paid to how these changes intersect with key societal issues such as values, identity, inequality, and democracy.
Additionally, our team seeks to disseminate research findings through collaboration and scholarly exchange with academic communities both domestically and internationally. Through these collaborations and exchanges, our team aims to make substantive contributions that extend beyond academic discourse to include policy recommendations. Our team provides researchers and students with data and analyses that enable a deeper understanding of the structures and dynamics of contemporary Korean political economy. It also seeks to enhance the reach and impact of its research through collaboration with international academic networks.
